Facebook can be a great resource in helping you connect with people. As a medium, though, it isn’t terribly quick or efficient if you need to call someone immediately and you don’t have their phone number. However, if you are Facebook friends with an individual and want their number, there are ways to obtain it with the tools at hand.
* Note: For this search to work, you must be an accepted Facebook friend of your desired contact, or at least be allowed to view his or her information profile page. Here are a few tips if you already have that much accomplished:
- Log in to your Facebook account. In the bottom right corner there will be a bar that says “Chat.” This is a list of your friends who are online right now. If your desired contact is on that list, click on his name. A window will pop up and you can ask for his number. Problem solved!
-If he is not online, go to his profile page. Under his picture will be the subsection “Info.” Click the link.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page. Under the subheading, “Contact Information” there will be methods of location and communication listed. If there is a phone number, congratulations! Your search is over.
- If no phone number is listed, you might find a Instant Messaging address or a work address instead. If you know he is at work, try calling the work number listed.
- If you think he might be on IM or AOL, log into your own profile. If he is on as well, as for his number.
- If he is not on instant messaging or Facebook chat, you can use the information you have gathered to look up his number.
- Write down any information listed on his Facebook profile page. What schools he attended, his family members’ names, the city he lives in. Some search engines can utilize these nuggets to track a number down.
- Look up a free search engine like 118118.com or yell.com. Insert the information required, which usually consists of the first and last name as well as the location of the person.
- Pare down your search with the information you’ve gathered from his Facebook profile until you find a phone number.
- Call him up and impart whatever important news you have!
