A rhinoplasty, or “nose job” as it is commonly referred to, involves either an augmentation or reduction or the nose. During a rhinoplasty, a number of changes can be made to the nose which include adjusting the structure of the tip, the bridge, and/or the nostrils. The shape and structure of the nose is genetically inherited with the nose continuing to grow through childhood through the teenage years up until the age of 16. Because the nose continues to alter through these years, it is not recommended for an individual to receive rhinoplasty until they are over the age of 16.

Patients typically undergo an augmentation rhinoplasty when they feel that their nose is too flat. The operation consists of adding additional structure to the nose in order to improve the bridge area. Several materials, both natural such as bone and cartilage and man-made, can be used to re-create the structure of the nose. Incisions are typically made inside of the nostril and the structure is then inserted. If the surgeon decides that the best course of action is a bone graft taken from the patient, the donor area is typically the hip, rib, elbow, or the skull. If cartilage is the decided donor, it can either be removed from the ear or from another part of the nose.

If the patient has sustained an injury, it is common for difficulty in breathing to occur. This can be fixed at the same time as the rhinoplasty or can be done as part of a separate procedure. In addition, if the nose has become severely crushed, it may be necessary for skin grafts to be performed but this would involve an additional procedure.

There are multiple things that happen to your body during and after pregnancy. During pregnancy every woman loves how her breasts are fuller and more voluptuous. Bullying at work affects far more individuals than you might think. At least one in three persons in the work force in the United States will be bullied by coworker during their working life. It isn’t just the person being bullied that this affects. Other co workers, supervisors, and the company all are affected by people that are guilty of bullying in workplace.

In addition, any form of sabotage that leads to work not being completed as needed, including simply interfering with regular work-related duties, is also classified as workplace bullying.

Consistent bullying at work leads to many physical ailments such as hypertension and depression. In fact, it can even lead to anxiety issues and PTSD if continued for any length of time.

Not only does this lead to having the job of the bullied being compromised, but it ends up costing everyone. The company is going to have to pay sick leave, insurance companies end up paying for medical care which increases premiums, and it is technically possible that taxpayers will end up paying for disability for those who are so traumatized they can no longer be employed.

Bullying at work affects everyone, whether you work at that particular company or not.

While we welcome new technology and embrace it with open arms, there are some of our most common day objects that our elderly relatives just can’t seem to get their heads around. Even the most corpus mentus amongst them seem to have problems using these items.

Have you ever tired to teach an older person how to use a mobile phone? Great fun isn’t it! They can grasp the answering business but texts and voicemails? Forget it! Another part that’s lost on them is that it’s called a ‘mobile’ phone for a reason, but do they ever take them out with them? Do they heck, and its pointless leaving a message as they don’t know how to retrieve them.

Another item they seem to have issues with is an electric toothbrush. One elderly relative, who shall remain nameless, said she hated the vibration in her mouth. As she holds her teeth in her hand to clean them, this was lost on me! So I took it back and left her happily squirting her denture toothpaste onto her old manual brush.

Computers and the internet are another no go area. Trying to teach a septuagenarian how to connect to the internet is as pointless as giving mouthwash to a camel. They are never going to grasp it, and when they tell you that their emails are ‘getting lost in the post’, you know its time to give it up as a bad job.

Modern Hi-fi’s, TV digi boxes and DVD players are also things not to put in their Christmas stocking. If you can find an old video recorder with a remote attached to a wire and a Hi-fi which plays vinyl records, they’ll be in their element. Good look finding them, and let me know if you do!
